C. Edward “Eddie” Meehan, 84, of Sea Ranch Lakes, FL, went to his Heavenly Home on November 16th, 2022. Eddie shared 57 years of beautiful memories with his beloved wife, Sherry Meehan. Loving father to his two daughters, Courtney (Patrick) O’Loughlin of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Shannon Holtz of Sea Ranch Lakes, FL. He was affectionately called “Poggy” by his daughters and three grandchildren: Hayley O’Loughlin of Atlanta; GA, Kelsey O’Loughlin of Tampa, FL; and Aiden Holtz of Sea Ranch Lakes, FL. He was “Uncle Sunny” to his nieces and nephews: Dr. George Galuzzo, Maura Hopkins, Ann Mack, and Tara Ward. Eddie is survived by his sister Alana Galuzzo of Seabring, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ann Meehan, and his brother Jimmy Meehan.

Eddie was born in 1938, enjoying his youth in Rocky River, Ohio. He attended both St. Edward High School in Lakewood, as well as two years in Pinecrest School, Fort Lauderdale, FL, before graduating from St. Edward High School. After attending college at Michigan State, he returned to Fort Lauderdale, and worked as a beach lifeguard. His career included: getting his pilots license and flying for Dillion Aerial Photography; working for Walston and Company as a stock broker; and becoming a General Contractor. Together with Sherry, they built, operated and owned Abbe Manor and Abbe West. Eddie was 56 when they made the decision to sell and fully retire giving them time to enjoy the many things they loved to do together.

All who knew Eddie, were aware of his life long love of cars and motorcycles. You never knew what “set of wheels” he would be driving around Fort Lauderdale, but you can be certain it was something very special.

Through all of Eddie’s endeavors, he never lost site of the most important part of his life-family and friends. He will be remembered for his honesty, integrity, loyalty, humor and unconditional love. His wife, Sherry will hold onto the lifetime memories she made with her Eddie. His children and grandchildren will be forever thankful for the strong values Poggy instilled in them. Having touched many lives in his genuine way, Eddie will not only be greatly missed but will be lovingly remembered always!

The last year of his life, Eddie was beautifully cared for at Belmont Senior Living, Fort Lauderdale, FL. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Alzheimer’s Association.
