CHARLES TOM Embraced by family and friends, Charles John Tom, 84 was healed on December 8, 2023. The son of the late Charles Siro Tom & Mary Lorek and step-son of the late Eddie Lorek; husband to his bride Carole Tom (née Zabawski) of 59 years; son-in law of the late Anthony & Sophia Zabawski; father of Cathy Milowicki (Chris) and Sandy Cibulskas (Pete); Pop to Ryan & Cari Milowicki and Ellie, Emma, Ian, angel Sophie & canine Harry Cibulskas; brother of Janet Ulisse (the late Jamie) and Carol Murphy (Bob); uncle to Jim Ulisse (Tony Pellegrino), John Ulisse, Michael Ulisse (Sandra), the late Jennifer Ulisse, Marie Ramagli and Matthew Ramagli (Fanny); great-uncle to Sarah Ulisse, Taylor Hudock (Alex), Meghan Wentz (Howard), Shelby Ulisse, and Tessa & Owen Ramagli; and loyal friend of Mike Moraitis, John Ostrowsky, Floyd Winters, Stan Arnold, Ken Digby and Doug Yates.
Born on May 10, 1939, Chuck was proud of his Italian heritage and formative years in Slickville, PA. He often shared stories of his father, Grandma Tom and Uncle Clem. Moving to Cleveland in his early teens, Chuck was a three-sport athlete at Lakewood High School excelling in football. Chuck served his country in the 82nd Army Airborne as a paratrooper. Marrying Carole on April 4, 1964, they started their life journey. Together, they established C. J. Tom Builders, a family business providing custom home building and remodeling services for over 45 years in the western suburbs of Cleveland.
Chuck wants to be remembered as a carpenter, self-educated architect, land developer and builder. His family and friends will remember him as a man of character, honesty, integrity, generosity, strength, focus and determination who always showed up for others when his presence was most needed.
Celebrate Chuck’s life on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church (North Ridgeville) where family and friends will be greeted from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm Mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery (Avon). In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to Hope Renovations, an organization that empowers woman to pursue careers in the construction trades as well as supports programming to repair and renovate older adults’ homes.
