Beloved wife of the late Ronald Obed; adored mother of Maureen Jansen (Larry), Ronald (Cherilene), Dinene, Craig (Becky), Darlene Woody (Raymond), Scott (Kim), Brian, and Colleen Hayes (Kevin). Cherished grandmother of Joshua (Katie), Kevin (Alyssa), Michael and Jeremiah (Kelly) Jansen; Jason, Christopher and Tyler Obed; Jeffrey and Adam (Clara) Ellsworth; Nichole (Ron), Matthew (Lori), Emily, and Amy Woody; Steven Obed, Lucas (Melanie) and Brett (Tara) Cox; Christian, Lauren, and Aiden Hayes. Great-grandmother of Chloe Jansen; William and Jonathon Obed; Grant and Trevor Jansen; Logan, Garrett, Brayden, Kelden, and Rylan Ellsworth; Sadie Gutwell; Alexander Norman; Calista Knab; Kaiden Woody; Kierra, Sarah, Liam, Mary, and Grace Cox; Cayden and Parker Beach; and Miles Cox. Treasured sister of the late Marilyn Zehrung (Barrow) and the late Donald Barrow; dear sister-in-law and precious aunt. Cherished and loved by countless friends and family.

Charmaine was a long-time resident of Lakewood, North Olmsted and Westlake, OH as well as Hobe Sound, FL. She began her life in Cleveland, the youngest of three children born to Greeta Barrow. She attended Catholic school in Lakewood, graduating from St. Augustine Academy. Ever faithful, she attended 6:00 AM Mass almost daily. In those days, she worked with her sister, brother, and several friends at Prangs Restaurant in Lakewood. Charmaine’s sister, Marilyn, was perceptive enough to know that Ron Obed would be the perfect man for Charmaine. Within six months, they were engaged and were married for 55 years until Ron passed away in 2011.

Charmaine and Ron started their life together in Lakewood. Family was always important to both. Ron wanted two children and Charmaine wanted six; they compromised and had eight. As with most couples, they went through the usual headaches and heartaches of raising children. Along with the hard times, though, come the most rewarding joys that family life can hold:

· Watching their children grow

· Seeing them take their first steps

· Learning to ride a two wheeler

· Learning to water ski on family vacations at Atwood Lake

· The excitement in their eyes Christmas morning

· The annual Thanksgiving morning tradition of bowling with the extended family

In the summer of 1976, the family moved from Lakewood to North Olmsted and became parishioners of St. Brendan’s Parish. Charmaine was quickly welcomed as she participated in the liturgies and volunteered as a teacher in the PSR program. Charmaine accepted the role as Secretary of the Religious Education Office. She helped students and teachers prepare for class masses, organized PSR activities, and worked on Confirmation retreats, along with countless other tasks. It was a job she truly enjoyed and graced for 18 years.

In 2001, Ron and Charmaine purchased a home in Hobe Sound, FL where they made numerous friends. As was her way, Charmaine got involved with the Cambridge Homeowner’s Association preparing numerous meals and raising funds for many charitable organizations. When people needed something done, they called on Char. She didn’t know the meaning of the word “no” and was always there to help wherever and whenever needed.

Charmaine will most be remembered for her undying love of her family. She graciously and selflessly ran their warm home of eight children with patience and kindness, as well as welcomed and cared for many extended family members and friends, showing compassion and support in their time of need.

Rarely does a soul so beautiful as Charmaine’s grace God’s earth. She will be deeply missed. May she rest in loving peace.

Our special thanks to Kathy Bailey, Charmaine’s caregiver and friend. She was our angel sent from heaven. They spent many days together doing crafts, exercising, sharing stories, and bonding. We will be forever grateful for her support not only to Charmaine but to the entire Obed family as well.
