Below is the death notice of Elizabeth "Betty" DeChant, Mother of Michael DeChant, Class of 1969, The late Jerome DeChant, Class of 1971, Thomas DeChant, Class of 1973, and Mark DeChant, Class of 1981. Grandmother of Michael Wilgus, Class of 1995, Christopher Wilgus, Class of 1996, David Wilgus, Class of 1999, Joseph Wilgus, Class of 2001, Stephen Wilgus, Class of 2003, Brian Wilgus, Class of 2005, Patrick DeChant, Class of 2005 and Sean DeChant, Class of 2008. Please keep the DeChant and Wilgus families in your prayers.
ELIZABETH JANE “BETTY” DeCHANT (nee Mills) age 92. Daughter of the late Leo B. and Margaret T. Mills. Beloved wife of the late Donald W. Loving mother of Michael (Elizabeth “Betty”), Jerome (deceased), Susan Wilgus (John), Thomas (Donna), Jann, and Mark (Nancy). Dear grandmother of Angela Paugh (Adam), Michael (Holly) and James (Kaelin); Michael Wilgus (Alison), Christopher Wilgus (Kimberly), Elizabeth Malik (Timothy), David Wilgus (Kathryn), Joseph Wilgus (Brigid), Stephen Wilgus (Theresa) and Brian Wilgus (Jennifer); Patrick (Rebeka) and Sean; Alexander, Thomas and Mark, and great-grandmother of 33. Sister of the late Rosemary Wagner (Anthony “Jay”) and Patricia Aldrich (Thomas). She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Betty was a 1948 graduate of St. Vincent High School in Akron. Passed away May 4, 2023. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernadette Church, 2256 Clague Rd., Westlake on Tuesday, May 9th at 12 Noon. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, Avon. Friends May Call at Berry-McGreevey Funeral Home, 26691 Detroit Road, Westlake on Monday, May 8th from 4 – 8 PM. In lieu of flowers family suggests contributions be made to St. Bernadette School, 2300 Clague Rd., Westlake, OH 44145 or The Jerome W.
