Below is the death notice of Frank Simmons, Class of 1966. Please keep the Simmons family in your prayers.
Frank George Simmons passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 following a long battle with chronic illness. Frank was born May 1, 1948 in St. Louis, MO to Helen M. (Pluchinski) and Joseph J. Simmons. The family moved to the Cleveland area shortly thereafter. Frank graduated from St. Edward High School in 1966 and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969. He married Jacqueline Kovelan in July of 1969 prior to his permanent duty station at Ft. Huachuca, AZ, where he served two proud years as a Military Policeman. Upon leaving the service, Frank and Jackie settled into the home they built in Chatham, OH, where they raised their three kids. Frank built a successful 40 year career as a Millwright at the Ford Motor Company in Brook Park, OH, until he retired in 2008. He enjoyed spending time competing in various sports leagues (bowling, softball, golf) with the many lifelong friends he made during his time at Ford. Frank is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jacqueline Kovelan Simmons; his children, Jennifer Simmons, Jeremy Simmons (Becca), and Jackie Cummings (Aaron); grandchildren, Cayden Simmons, Morgan Miller, Austin and Jaxon Cummings; siblings, Susan Simmons, JoAnn Simmons, Joseph Simmons Jr., and Michael Simmons. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Karen Zeiher. Visitation is 12-2 pm and 4-7 pm, Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, where a Memorial Service will take place at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank's name to the Wounded Warriors. In honor of Frank's love for Cleveland sports teams, we encourage you to wear Cleveland gear to the service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.waitefuneralhome.com.
