Below is the death notice of James Masterson, Father of Michael Masterson, Class of 1980. Grandfather of Ryan Manderfield, Class of 2015 and Keegan Manderfield, Class of 2016. Please keep the Masterson and Manderfield families in your prayers.
James M. Masterson, age 83, loving husband of 61 years to Sandra (nee Connell); beloved father to Michael (Michelle), Maureen Manderfield (Steve), Patrick (Monica), Brendan (Sheri), Kathleen Smith (Phil). Dear grandfather to Brian (Ashley), Shannon Hatmaker (Adam), Ryan, Keegan, Paighton, Lillian, Margaret, Bridget, Sarah, Allison, and Colin. Great grandfather to Mckenna and Quinn. Devoted son of the late John and Margaret (nee Joyce) and son-in-law of the late Sanford and Dolores (nee Smith) Connell. Loving brother to Fran (deceased) Eleanore (deceased), Rich (deceased) Audrey (deceased), and Margie Eschen (John, deceased). Jim was a 1958 graduate of St. Edward High School and was very active in their alumni association and was a Golden Eagle recipient. He also attended the Holy Cross Seminary for Brothers in Rolling Prairie, IN, proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, and was involved in the Cleveland Emerald Civic Society. Jim completed his 50+ career with Evarts Tremaine on January 1, 2023, where he was an insurance agent specializing in probate bonds. He loved his Irish heritage, was a loyal Notre Dame fan, Cleveland sports fan, an avid historian of WW II, and loved his time at the beach in Surfside, SC. He was a devout and faithful Catholic who deeply cherished his family and sincerely loved his friends. He passed away on June 13, 2023. Funeral Mass is at St. Clarence Church (30106 Lorain Rd, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070) on Friday, June 16 at 11 a.m. followed by interment at Evergreen Westlake Cemetery. Friends may call at the McGorray-Hanna Funeral Home of Westlake, 25620 Center Ridge Rd., Westlake, Ohio 44145 on Thursday, June 15 from 3-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Columba Hall elevator restoration project, the retired community of the Brothers of the Holy Cross on the campus of Notre Dame at: www.brothersofholycross.com,or to St. Edward High School at: https://www.sehs.net/giving.
