In Memoriam
Below is the death notice of Jeffrey Strauss, Class of 1985. Please keep the Strauss family in your prayers.
JEFFREY “BUBBA” STRAUSS age 55, a resident of Ohio City, passed away after fighting a brave battle with cancer on Monday July 18, 2022. He was born on October 14, 1966 in Cleveland, OH to parents Hank and Rose Strauss. Bubba was a 1985 graduate of St. Ed’s High School where he was a 2 time state champ in wrestling. After high school, Bubba went to Iowa where he wrestled for the great Dan Gable. After college he came home to work in the service industry and in 1991 he met his wife Cathy Cahill. In 1994 he went to work at the Post office and for the next 26 years was a very well-loved supervisor, and also with his love of wrestling, became the assistant coach of Rocky River High School for 25 years. Besides Cathy he had 2 other loves. He loved to fish. Every morning after work he would take out his boat and catch perch and walleye. But his first and main love was Garth Brooks who he even told him he loved him more than Cathy. Well maybe. Bubba had attended over 88 Garth Brooks concerts, and started a nonprofit called Vets for Garth. He would contact a local Veterans organization and invite them to a great concert. He did that over 55 times. And lastly he and Cathy loved their Cleveland sports teams. He is survived by his wife Cathy of 31 years, a stepson Adam Cahill (Rebecca) his wingman Alex Paulson, dear siblings Karen Siegmeyer (Al), and Sue Pease (Randy). He also had 4 nieces, 1 nephew Curt, and their families who he adored. He is preceded in death by his parents Hank and Rose and a brother Gary. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 16501 Euclid Ave. Cleveland OH 44106 or www.cancer.org. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Brothers Lounge 11609 Detroit Ave., Cleveland OH 44102
