In Memoriam

Below is the death notice of Gerald Holderbaum, Class of 1957. Please keep the Holderbaum family in your prayers.

Gerald "Jerry" D. Holderbaum, age 85, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024, in Parma. Jerry was born on February 9, 1939, in Canton, to the late Pearl (Miller) and George Holderbaum.

Jerry was an outgoing, humble guy who had the ability to make everyone smile. He grew up at the Parmadale Children’s Village of St. Vincent de Paul and was eternally grateful for the guidance from the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine. Jerry was a proud 1957 graduate of the St. Edward High School, in Lakewood. Sometime after graduation he joined the Cleveland Electrical Apprenticeship program, then went on and worked as an electrician for over 40 years which included electrical projects at NASA Glenn Research Center. Jerry retired as a member of the IBEW Local 38, enjoyed helping friends and family with electrical needs and contributed to the St. Joseph building committee. He was a member of the St. Joseph Men’s Club, liked music and dancing, was an avid golfer, enjoyed the camaraderie of friends and neighbors, and appreciated the simplicity of nature.

Jerry is survived by his loving companion of over 20 years, Judy Weitzel (nee Bobco), and her children Susan M. St. John (Steve), Robert P. Weitzel (Kristin), and her grandchildren Alexis, Tyler, Ashley (fiancé Connor), Brooke, and Caitlin.

Preceded in death by sisters Shirley Wheeler, Darlene Arndt-Nyaberg and brother Ronald. Survived by sisters Nancy Albert (David, deceased), Patricia Durkee (Tom), foster brother Larry Burant (Barbara), sister-in-law Geraldine, and many nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. immediately followed by the Funeral Liturgy at St. Joseph Byzantine Catholic Church, 8111 Brecksville Road, Brecksville, Ohio 44141.
