In Memoriam
Below is the death notice of John "Jack" Dacey, Class of 1961. Please keep the Dacey family in your prayers.
John “Jack” Dacey passed away on September 7, 2023 at his home in Kentfield, CA. He was born in Chicago, IL to the late John Jack Dacey and the late Anna Silveroli Dacey. He has 2 other brothers Joe and Jim. Growing up in Cleveland, OH, he attended and worked his way through St. Edward High School. Following graduation, he attended Miami University in Oxford, OH where he played on the RedHawks football team as a starting Running back. Upon graduation from Miami University, Jack joined the U.S. Army and was selected to attend Transportation Officers Candidate School (TOCS) at Fort Eustis, VA in 1967. Upon his graduation from TOCS and commissioning as a 2nd Lieutenant, Jack was sent directly to Vietnam. After 1-2 years of fighting in the war, he was able to take his LSAT exam and was subsequently accepted into Hastings Law School (UCSF). Upon graduation, he practiced law for 41 years as a successful Litigation Attorney in numerous highly established San Francisco law firms to include: Goldstein, Barceloux, & Goldstein (as Managing Partner), Dacey & Niesar, Niesar & Diamond, McKenna & Fitting, and Dacey & Sitkin. Jack retired around 2012 so that he could fulfill his desire to travel Europe. He especially liked France and Italy. Jack had a highly fulfilling and productive life which included staying very physically fit and active. He grew up poor, but made the decision in his youth to make a better life for himself and his future family. He served his nation honorably in the Vietnam war and led a highly successful career as a Trial lawyer. He was very generous to family, friends, and was an avid donor to both Miami University and St. Edward’s High School so that less fortunate students would have the opportunity of receiving a quality education. He loved this country and always encouraged others to do the same. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Jack is survived by his son, Ryan Dacey, and grandchildren Charlotte and Carter. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Monte’s Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo, and is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, November 22, 2023.
