John "Jack" E. O'Flanagan Obituary
John E. O'Flanagan "Jack", age 75. Passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer's on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. Beloved husband of Betty Jo O'Flanagan. Loving father of Kellie Huxtable (Robert), Molly Genard (Ryan), and the late John (Rebecca, living); dear grandfather of Jack (dec.), Cate, Bridget, Guy, Bode, and Lennon. Brother of the late Rosemary Lehmann and Patrick O'Flanagan
Jack had a historic high school football career at his beloved St. Edward High School. Before the legendary Bo Schembechlier coached That Team Up North, he recruited Jack to play football at Miami of Ohio. Despite two devastating knee injuries which ended his playing career, Jack remained a loved member of the team and will forever be a proud Redskin. During his time at Miami of Ohio, he married his high school sweetheart Betty Jo, and welcomed their first child Kellie. Seven years later, he became the proud father of his only son John. And nine years later after that Molly.
Jack was a dedicated high school football coach and physical education teacher before becoming an entrepreneur and restaurateur when he opened the much loved Hot Dog Heaven in Amherst, Ohio. He became a fixture of the Amherst and surrounding communities in the 42 years he spent behind the counter of Hot Dog Heaven.
Jack was a father figure, teacher and mentor to countless employees as the owner and operator of Hot Dog Heaven. His legacy lives on in the hundreds of lives he touched and countless mouths he fed! He will be sorely missed.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Raphael's Church, 525 Dover Center Road, Bay Village on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 10:30am. A visitation will be held at the Busch Funeral Home, 21369 Center Ridge, Fairview Park on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Avon, OH.
