Below is the death notice of Joseph Salzgeber, Class of 1959. Brother of the late Robert Salzgeber, Class of 1956 and the late Alan Salzgeber, Class of 1957. Please keep the Salzgeber family in your prayers
Joseph Salzgeber age 82, Joseph (Joe) Salzgeber, age 82, of Granger, Indiana (previously of Parma, Ohio) passed away on January 12, 2024. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 9, 1941 to the late Joseph F. and Evelyn Mabel (Hauth) Salzgeber. He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Shirley A. (Crawford) Salzgeber; devoted father to Joseph Jr., Steven and Jeffrey Salzgeber; loving uncle to fifteen nieces and nephews; and great-uncle to twenty-six.Joe was preceded in death by his dear siblings, Robert (Barb) Salzgeber, Alan (Karen) Salzgeber, and Marion (Carl) Miller. He graduated from St. Francis de Sales School in Parma, and St. Edward High School (Class of 1959) in Lakewood, Ohio. Joe was proud to have served during the Vietnam - era in the United States Army. He was active duty 1962-64 and honorably discharged in 1968. He was a longtime employee of Western Electric / AT&T in Solon, Ohio and Niles, Michigan. Joe was parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Parma for many years and a past cub scout leader. He was an avid sports fan who always cheered for the Cleveland Browns, Notre Dame, and Ohio State and was a past Notre Dame football season ticket holder. He was also a member of American Legion Post 365 in Edwardburg, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 S.R. 23 at Cherry Rd, in Granger, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, January 20th at 10:30 am, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 N. Fir Rd in Granger, IN, with visitation beginning at 9:30 am.
