With heavy hearts our family announces the passing of Kenneth R. Bruening, age 89, of Chardon, Ohio, on July 23rd 2024. He died peacefully at home while being held by all of his seven children and his beloved wife Elaine (nee Ott) to whom he was married for 66 wonderful years.

Devoted and loving father of Joan Bonfich (Thomas), Kenneth (Martha), David (Deborah), John (Peggy), Matthew (Christine), Diane, and Jean Turbett (James). Loving grandfather of Lauren, Lisa, Michelle, Holly, Kevin, Katie, Matt, Elise, Ben, Nick, Katherine, Brian D, James, Peter, Claire, Adam, Brian M, Daniel, Grace, Olivia, Michael, Steven, and Philip. Great-grandfather of 19. Beloved son of Ralph and Mary (nee Jonke), brother of Dolores Shannon (Thomas), Robert (Erika), Ralph, Richard (Kathy), and MaryAnn Kline (James). Ken was a member of the first graduating class of St. Edward's in 1953, a proud veteran of the US Coast Guard where he served on the USCG Storis, primarily in Alaska, a 30-year employee of Cleveland Water, and a 52-year faithful and active member of St. Patrick Church in Thompson.

Memorial Mass to be held August 3rd at 12:00 at St. Mary's Church in Chardon followed by a reception/luncheon at the church to which all are invited. In a final act of selflessness, for which he was renowned, Ken has donated his body to Case Western Reserve University's Anatomy Department. No flowers, please.
