Lawrence "Larry" J. Cobler
December 24, 1936 — November 23, 2024
Brunswick
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lawrence John Cobler on Saturday, November 23, 2024. He was born December 24,1936 in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Herman Winslow Cobler and Margaret Smith Cobler.
During his high school year, Lawrence (Larry) achieved legendary status on the athletic field, earning a spot, because of his outstanding talent, on St. Edward of Lakewood’s 1956 Hall of Fame as a two-way starter on their football team.
He had an incredible love of cars, especially his harbor blue 1957 Chevy, which he washed nearly every day.
Above all, Larry was a devoted husband to his beloved Josephine. They were married for 58 incredible years. Their union was a testament to enduring love and unwavering commitment. Together, they built a life of deep connection and inspired everyone fortunate enough to witness their bond. Josephine passed away in February of 2015.
Larry is survived by his two brothers, James and Thomas; sister, Mary; son, Lawrence (Beth) Cobler; daughter, Victoria (Jerry) Stallard; granddaughters, Nichole (David) Burfield, Jennifer (Chad) Allen and Kelli Briggs; and grandsons, Lawrence (Ellen) Cobler and Daniel (Michelle) Maloney. He had 12 great-grandchildren.
We are so grateful to all of the staff at Royalton Woods Assisted Living Facility. Their compassion, loving care and attention to detail allows those living there to live with dignity and pride. “Larbear’s” family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts.
A private family service will take place on Wednesday, November 27 at his gravesite at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Bollinger Funeral Services is honored to be assisting the family.
