Mark J. Hrusovsky

Class of 1973

In Memoriam

Below is the death notice of Mark Hrusovsky, Class of 1973. Brother-in-law of John Smerillo, Class of 1980. Please keep the Hrusovsky and Smerillo families in your prayers.

MARK J. HRUSOVSKY, age 68. Beloved husband of 45 years to Kathy (nee Smerillo); father of Mark Jr. (Becky), Jennifer Piasecki (Brett) and Elizabeth (Sean Knox); grandfather of Lance, Hailey, Levi, Makenna and Molly; brother of Andrea.

Mark was born and raised in Cleveland’s West Park neighborhood. He established a family with his wife Kathy, and were active members of St. Patrick’s Church, West Park, before moving to North Ridgeville in 1998. While living in Cleveland, he was a contributing member of the Holy Name Society and the golf-league. He retired as a Plant Operator with the NEO Regional Sewer District, after 32 years.

He loved spending time with his Children, and enjoyed supporting them in their activities, such as Boy Scouts, YMCA Indian Guides & Princesses, CYO sports, and little leagues. Even though he would be the first to say he didn’t have any athletic ability, he never hesitated to be a part of his children’s extracurriculars.

After his retirement in 2008, he filled his free time with volunteering and being involved within his community. He spent time working on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, and as a golf ranger at Big Met Metro Park course. He also enjoyed his time as a Red Coat with Playhouse Square and helping patients at the local Cleveland Clinic Medical center by his home.

He slowed down his volunteering activities in 2017, as he wanted to help out after the birth of his granddaughter, Makenna. He was looking forward to getting involved in new volunteering activities, yet unfortunately the pandemic put a pause on his plans.

He truly enjoyed spending time and being actively involved in his grandchildren’s lives. Be it watching or cheering them on (sports, school events, and so on), or just showering them with attention and love. His number one priority was his family, and he lived to be there to love and support.

Passed away suddenly March 9, 2023. Funeral Mass Wednesday, March 15, Holy Trinity Church (33601 Detroit Rd.) at 11:30 AM. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of NORTH OLMSTED, 29150 LORAIN RD. AT STEARNS TUESDAY 4-7 PM.
