Below is the death notice of Mark Hopkins, Class of 1972. Brother of Walter Hopkins, Class of 1965 and Christopher Hopkins, Class of 1975. Father of Justin Hopkins, Class of 1998. Please keep the Hopkins family in your prayers.
Mark passed away May 10th, 2024, after struggling with Cancer. He passed away peacefully with family and friends by his side. Mark graduated from St. Edward High School and the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor’s Degree in English.
Mark was preceded in death by Françis J. Hopkins (Father), Mary A. Hopkins (O’Dea) (Mother) and is survived by his wife Fatiha, son Justin, grandson Blaise, sister Mary (Darren), brothers Walt (Susan), John (Danon), Chris (Wendy) and nephews Stephen, Brian, Ryan, nieces Katherine and Lauren. Moira O’Dea (cousin). Dear friends Dr. Aiacha Saadane and Brahin Oudada (deceased). Mark’s lifelong friend, Michael Modic Bradley(Kate), collaborated in many years of music, writing and poetry.
Mark’s writings and poetry were well-known in the Cleveland area as well as his Letters to the Editors of Cleveland media.
A Prayer service will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, from 6 to 7 p.m., at Slone & Co. Funeral Directors 13115 Lorain Ave. Cleveland, OH 44111. Janazah Prayers will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., at the Islamic Center of Cleveland 6055 W. 130th St. Cleveland, OH 44130. Interment Resthaven Memory Gardens.
