In Memoriam
Below is the death notice of Michael Maynard, Class of 1972. Please keep the Maynard family in your prayers.
Michael Maynard, devoted husband of Bonnie (nee Geiger), entered into heaven on August 18, 2024.
Born on April 3, 1954 in Lakewood, Ohio, Mike was the fifth child of Buford and Eileen Maynard. He graduated from St. Edward High School and Cleveland State University and went on to pursue his passion as a Financial Consultant. He spent 38 years working at Morgan Stanley and was respected for his hard work, dedication and expertise.
Mike had a love for golf as he was a long-time member of Sharon Golf Club, Elyria Country Club and the Bonita Bay Club. He also enjoyed traveling with Bonnie to play many golf courses around the country and the world. In addition to their many travels, their most favorite trip was to the Serengeti in Tanzania to witness “The Great Migration” and to Rwanda to trek with the mountain gorillas. In his retirement, they enjoyed their winter home in Bonita Springs, Florida.
Mike is together again with his father and mother, brothers-in-law Rick DeBlander, Jim Faile and sister- in-law Sharon Maynard. He is survived by his siblings Tom, Tim (Ernie Stone), Cathy Wolf (Bob), Mark, John (Patti), Chris Faile and many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Mike will always be remembered for his love of family, friends and the Cleveland sports teams.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 24 at 4:00 p.m. at The Holy Family Chapel at St. Edward High School 13500 Detroit Ave. Lakewood. Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 23 from 4:00 – 8:00 at Jenkins Funeral Chapel 2914 Dover Center Road Westlake.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a program very dear to Mike - The Bonnie and Michael Maynard ’72 Endowed Scholarship Fund at St. Edward High School.
