Below is the death notice of Michael Topa, Son of Walter Topa, Class of 1963. Brother of David Topa, M.D., Class of 1993. Please keep the Topa family in your prayers.
Michael Anthony Topa, 45 of Avon Lake, peacefully passed away surrounded by family and friends, after a brief illness caused by his years long struggle with alcoholism on Sunday, May 5, 2024. He was born January 7, 1979, to parents Walter A. and Eileen T. (nee Saunders) Topa in Pittsburgh PA.
Mike was a 1997 graduate of Avon Lake High School and was employed for the past 10 years as the Outdoors Operations Manager for Avon Oaks Golf Club. Mike was a home body that would choose to be home with his wife and their dog and cat over anything. He was a kindhearted person who was a friend to everyone he met. To know Mike was to love Mike.
He is survived by his beloved wife Lindsey Mortus; loving parents Wally and Eileen; dear stepson Ryan Mortus; siblings David (Jen) and Brian; mother in-law and father in-law Gary and Carrie Mortus; nieces and nephews Sam, Molly, Jane, Elise, Eric, and Eva; and his large extended family of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
