Nancy passed away peacefully on April 14, 2023, after a brief illness. She was born in Upstate NY, and moved back to Cleveland with her mother when she was a child. She attended Collinwood High School and met her husband, Dick, at a family outing and they were married in 1957. They started their family and moved to Lakewood, OH, where they lived and raised their family for over 30 years including St. Clement and St. Luke’s parishes. They then moved to Fairview Park making close friends in both Lakewood and Fairview Park.
Nancy was an enthusiastic Cleveland sports fan and loved watching all the pro teams as well as Syracuse University. She loved cheering on all St. Ed’s sports teams supporting her children and grandchildren who attended the school. She was passionate and outspoken about her political beliefs and not afraid to share her opinions. She got this passion from her grandmother, who was a seamstress and union steward, who made sure Nancy voted when she was old enough. She loved to read and travel and being of German descent, she visited Germany many times. She loved to cook and host dinner parties and was known for her good food. And she was a huge Elvis Presley fan, since seeing him in Cleveland as a young girl.
Nancy worked at the Cuyahoga County Clerk of Courts in the cashier’s department for many years and loved going to work each day at The Justice Center and after retiring kept in touch with many of her colleagues.
The family would like to thank the staff of Fairview Hospital 2 South for their kindness and compassion during the past week.
Funeral mass at St Patrick's West Park at 11:30am on Monday, April 24th with visitation 1 hour prior to mass.
Donations can be made to St. Patrick's Hunger Center, Malachi House or Charity of choice.
