Patrick B. Murphy, Sr, Age 75, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2023. Son of the late DeSales (nee Kerr) and Jack Murphy. Brother of Philip (Marie), Karen Ballash (Larry), Thomas (Peggy) and Cheryl. Father of Patrick Jr. (Janice) and Thomas (Jennifer), children of Geraldine. Grandfather to Jon (Allison), Ryan (Steven), Daniel, Bridget, and Rachel. Great-grandfather to Darran, Cillian and Madelyn. Uncle and Great Uncle to many.

After attending St. Luke and St. Edward High School (Class of 1966), he earned his BSBA in Marketing from John Carroll University (Class of 1970). At JCU, he was a proud brother of the Delta Alpha Theta Fraternity.

Pat was a member of the Boland/Berry Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He joined the AOH in the 1970’s and served in Division offices of Treasurer, Vice President, and President. On the State level he served three terms as a Director and then went on to serve one term as Deputy National Organizer for the AOH National Board.

Pat headed the committee that was successful in bringing the 1988 AOH/LAOH National Convention to Cleveland. He was then named as Chairman of the 1988 National Convention where Hibernians from all over the United States came to Cleveland to participate in the event.

In 2012, Pat was named the Boland/Berry Division Hibernian of the Year.

Pat loved all things Irish. He enjoyed trips to Ireland, listening to Irish music, and attending the annual Cleveland Irish Cultural Festival. His favorite holiday was obviously, St. Patrick’s Day. He enjoyed marching in the parade with the AOH/LAOH and spreading cheer at the post parade events. In 1985, he was the Cleveland St. Patrick’s Day Parade Outside Co-chair and was also a member of the West Side Irish American Club.

Pat was a diehard fan of Cleveland sports teams, believing every year that this was the year for winning a title. He was also a big fan of St. Edward High School and the University of Notre Dame football.
