Below is the death notice of Richard A. Blech, Class of 1973. Please keep the Blech family in your prayers.
Richard A. Blech (Rich), 69, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024 surrounded by his family after battling Parkinson’s Disease since 1996. He remained strong throughout the years to cherish time with his beloved family and practice his Catholic faith.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Richard H. and Loretta (nee Leonard) Blech. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ellen (nee Savinell) of 46 years, children; Richard M., Patrick (Michelle), Lauren (Matthew) Hudak and grandchildren; Alice, Everett, Macy, Collin, Jacob, Jordan and Cameron. Loving brother of Dianne (Gil) Perez and brother Mark (Adele) Blech, in-laws; Robert (Coletta) Savinell, James (Kathy) Savinell, Karen (Robert) Pfieffer, Joanne Belovich and numerous nephews and nieces.
An avid musician who loved all music, Rich shared his passions and passed it down to his children.
Completing a successful 30 year career at NASA Glenn Research Center, Rich was Chief of the Engine Systems Branch. He received many distinguished awards and accolades including NASA Glenn’s most prestigious ‘Silver Snoopy’ award for the Ares 1 Upper Stage Purge and Hazardous Gas Detection Systems. Rich worked on research projects and published many professional papers which continue to contribute to the progression of his field to this day.
Family will receive friends and family TUESDAY, August 20th from 4-8PM at Jardine Funeral Home, 15822 Pearl Rd, Strongsville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on WEDNESDAY, August 21st at 11AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 16721 Pearl Rd, Strongsville with visitation one hour prior to mass. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery
