In Memoriam
Below is the death notice of Robert Ruddy, Class of 1968. Please keep the Ruddy family in your prayers.
Robert A. Ruddy - age 72, husband of Brenda Ruddy (nee Wilson); loving father of Melissa Mirt (Mike), Kim Ridenour (Brent), Nick Ruddy and Alison Yano; proud grandfather of Amber Brochetti (Brian), Amanda Mirt, Brianna Ridenour and Cameron Ridenour, Ally Yano and Brady Yano; great-grandfather of Ellie, Rex, Ruby and Scarlett; son of the late June (nee Weisman) and Robert F. Ruddy; dear brother of Joan "Scoot" Chihosky and Mary Konapacki (deceased) (Frank); uncle of Karen Konapacki, Michelle Balog and Billie Treece and great-uncle of Emma and Jack. Bob began his career at The Cleveland Plain Dealer at the age of 16, he served as a long-time employee of the paper, retiring as a District Manager in 1994. He spent his later years as a faithful member of Blessed Trinity Church, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a Charter Member of AA. After receiving a life-saving liver transplant in 1992, Bob became involved with Life Banc and The American Liver Foundation, organizations that were dear to his heart. For the remainder of his life, Bob worked to give back to his community and lived with gratitude for the second chance he was given. Always quick with a joke, Bob loved to laugh. If you were in his company, you most definitely enjoyed his quick wit and might even have been a subject of his one-of-kind sarcasm. He loved going to summer concerts in the Metroparks, and could tell you all the best places to eat in Cleveland. An avid roadtripper, Bob never turned down the opportunity to go for a drive in the days before GPS, he never even needed a map. Passing time sitting on the front porch of his home on W. 140th were the moments he was most at peace. Remembering him on that porch - just quietly taking it all in - will be the fondest memory of Bob for the ones who loved him the most. Passed away January 14, 2023. Funeral Mass Saturday, January 21, Blessed Trinity Church (14040 Puritas Ave.) at 10:30 A.M. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
