Below is the death notice of Robert Aerni, Class of 1960. Please keep the Aerni Family in your prayers
Robert F. Aerni (Bob), age 81. Beloved husband of Elaine (nee Niesen). Dear father of Daniel (Jane), Patrick, Theodore (Kelly) and Amy. Loving grandfather of Isabelle, Theodore, Aedan, Patrick, Bijou, Charmaine, Clara, Macklyn and Zoe. Brother of William (Marilyn) (both deceased), Richard (Carol) (both deceased), and June Rini (deceased) (Mario). Uncle, cousin and friend to many. Passed away December 29, 2023. Bob was a life-long Clevelander with roots in West Park and OLA Parish, as well as a proud graduate of the St. Edward Eagles High School class of 1960. While enlisted in the army and stationed in Berlin from 1961-1964, he cultivated a fondness for his German ancestry, played on the Army Golf Team and earned the U.S. Army Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge. Salesman for the family business Ohio Prime Meats, member of the Lakewood Elks Lodge, a competitive athlete in all things sports but especially, golf, basketball, tennis, hockey, speed skating and a faithful fan of the Browns, Cavs and Indians. Bob had a great love for all moments that brought together family and friends. As a member of the Olympic Outing Club in Vermilion, he knew how to relax and enjoy summers down by the river at his cottage; swimming, boating, fishing, playing cards and spending time at Sloppy Joe's. He will be missed dearly but never forgotten. Funeral mass at St. Christopher Church, 20141 Detroit Rd., Rocky River, OH, Monday, January 8th at 11:00 AM. Friends may call in the gathering area of the church from 10:00 AM until time of mass. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH, Tuesday, January 9th at 11:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Olympic Outing Club, attn: Bob Aerni Memorial Fund, 6545 W. River Rd., Vermilion, OH 44089-3412.
