In Memoriam
Below is the death notice of Robert Zirker Jr., Class of 1957. Please keep the Zirker family in your prayers.
Robert H. Zirker, Jr. passed away at his home on July 3, 2023, with his wife by his side. Born September 7, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio to Robert Zirker, Sr. and Alice Maund Zirker, he was one of 4 children – Rosemary Wagner (Ralph), Mary Lou Stavole (C. Anthony), Alice Ann Meyers (Kenneth).
Bob met his loving wife Ann (Kaschalk) at St. Thomas More where they would marry April 8, 1961 and spend 62 years together.
He was most proud of his children – Christine, Robert H. Zirker III (Bernadine), Jeffrey (Denise), Amy Richardson (Jesse), Caryn Summers (Brent), with extra blessings of 15 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, several grandpups, and 6 sweet angel grand babies waiting in heaven for him.
He attended Blessed Sacrament and St. Thomas More grade school, St. Edward High School, and briefly attended John Carroll University.
Like many young boys of his time, Bob's work career began with delivering newspapers for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, followed by a short time of sales in the camera department at Higbee's. The insurance industry welcomed him to positions at John Hancock (who would move him to Toledo) and Mass Mutual. He also enjoyed his continued involvement with Toastmasters. These experiences led to the formation of his own agency, Zirker Insurance Services, where his son would eventually join him. They were both active in helping the OSCA and their chiropractors receive equal recognition in the medical community.
The time he spent as a lector and Eucharistic minister at Gesu Church was very special to him. His hometown favorites were the Browns and the Cavaliers.
Viewing will be Monday, July 10 at Gesu Church, 2049 Parkside Blvd., Toledo, Ohio at 10:00 a.m. with the Funeral Mass following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
The family would also like to give special thanks to Kind Hearts Hospice and their wonderful caregivers.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Gesu Church or Toledo Humane Society. Please view and sign our online "guest registry" at CoyleFuneralHome.com
