In Memoriam
Below is the death notice of Robert Cooke, Father-in-law of Daniel Andrews, Class of 1986. Please keep the Andrews and Cooke families in your prayers.
Robert Cooke Obituary aged 86, passed peacefully at the Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Westlake, Ohio on November 15, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 27, 1936 as the eldest son of the late William John and Dorothea Vera (nee Shook) Cooke.
Bob was the beloved father of Megan (Gary) Sindelar and Aimee (Daniel) Andrews and loving "Papa" to Hannah, Margaret and William Sindelar, and Joseph, Charles and Jack Andrews. He is survived by dear friends Sharon and Alex Kurlychek, sister-in-law Bonnie Cooke, and nephews Court and Chad Cooke. He was preceded in death by his cherished brother, William "Bill" Cooke with whom he shared a lifelong love for the Browns, Guardians, and Buckeyes.
Bob graduated from Brecksville High School in 1955 where he ran track, served as President of the Drama Club and, most impressively, had a perfect attendance record for all four years. He served in the United States Army from 1962-1964. He later studied illustration at Cooper School of Art and spent the majority of his career as a Graphic Artist with The Cleveland Plain Dealer.
After retirement, Bob continued to be an enthusiastic artist, exhibiting his watercolors and acrylic paintings in various Cleveland-area art shows and galleries. He was an avid handball player and swimmer, spending many happy and active years at the Central, and later Parker Hannifin YMCA with life-long friends.
Bob's sweet spirit and sense of humor touched the lives of all who met him. He will be so greatly missed.
Private services will be held at a later date in Florida. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve or the Parker Hannifin YMCA.
