Thomas J. Killeen, age 89, passed away on September 13, 2024. He was born on August 6, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Stephen and Annette (née Jonke). He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Pat (née Forristal) for 54 wonderful years.
Tom was a loving father to Timothy Killeen, Patricia Warther(Mark), Sheila Deitrick (Bob), Thomas Killeen (Scot Champlin), Catherine Monteroso (Jeff), and Daniel Killeen (Johnine). He was a cherished grandfather of Patrick Warther (Abby), Katie Warther Frey (Jordan), Bryan Warther (Jenna), Maggie DeitrickOttlinger (Jacob), Daniel Monteroso (Brooke), MichaelMonteroso, Claire Monteroso, Devin Killeen and Delaney Killeen.
He was a proud great-grandfather to Aubrey, Ethan, and Vivian Warther; Parker Cunningham and Alayna Frey; Aiden Warther; Cooper and Corbin Ottlinger; and Mae Monteroso.
He was the brother of the late Marilyn Kilbane (Chuckdeceased), brother-in-law to Thomas Forristal (Alice deceased), and Noreen McBride (John deceased). He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Tom graduated from Cathedral Latin High School and Cleveland State University. He married the love of his life, Mary Pat, on November 28, 1958. He worked at McDowell Wellman/Dravofor 35 years, beginning as a time card clerk and rising to the role of comptroller.
A devoted family man, Tom spent much of his time coaching his children's sports teams, umpiring for Little League and basketball, and supporting their activities. He was also very active in his church community, especially at St. Patrick’s, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and was once honored as "Man of the Year." He also served with the St. Patrick's Athletic Association and the Parish Credit Union.
Later in his career, Tom was transferred to Pittsburgh, where his family lived in the North Hills for 18 years. He became an active member of St. John Neumann Church and Connoquenessing Country Club.
He was an avid sports fan, especially of Cleveland teams and any activity in which his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were involved. Tom had a deep love for golf. He found joy in his retirement years in Pinehurst, NC, where he and Mary Pat spent 25 happy years as members of Pinehurst Country Club.
Tom was a man of grit, determination, and unwavering faith in his family and community.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Church (West Park). The interment at a later date will be private at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at Chambers Funeral Home of Cleveland, 4420 Rocky River Dr., at Puritas, on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.
